FAQ
Answers to common questions.
Getting started
A smart energy management system for your home — it automatically decides when to charge the car, the battery, or run appliances, based on real spot electricity prices and current solar production.
Yes. Launch demo — you’ll see the full app with sample data; sensitive fields are anonymized.
Immediately after adding devices. First measurements and optimization run within minutes. Real savings show up in monthly statistics.
Not yet — the system currently needs an inverter as a consumption reference. We’re working on a variant that only needs Shelly measurement (no panels, no battery, no inverter). If you’re interested, get in touch and we’ll let you know when it’s ready.
Hardware
A Waveshare ESP32-S3-RS485-CAN WiFi module — available for example at rpishop.cz for 485 CZK (~€20). More info on the Hardware page.
We currently fully support SolaX G4 inverters. If you have a different type, get in touch — we’re gradually expanding support to other brands.
Five minutes. Connect the module via USB-C, click Flash in the browser, select the serial port — done. No cables, no programmers.
Cars and wallboxes
Tesla (all models via Fleet API) and the VW Group (VW, Škoda, SEAT, Cupra). Other brands are being worked on — please get in touch.
It works with any wallbox supporting the OCPP 1.6 standard — which today covers most modern wallboxes (Wallbox, KEBA, ABB, EVlink, Schneider, etc.).
Yes. The multi-car priority system handles any combination. Cars automatically pair with the right wallbox based on GPS and location.
The system detects that the car has left and stops tracking it for charging purposes. When you return, it pairs with the wallbox again automatically.
Pricing and privacy
EnergyBot is honorware — the software is free. You only need a hardware module (from ~€20). If the project helps you and you want to support further development, send us a contribution — voluntarily, whatever feels right.

No. You don’t need a manufacturer account or any connection to their cloud. EnergyBot communicates directly via your Waveshare module on your home network. EnergyBot’s operational data is stored on our servers in Czechia (EU).
Yes. History and statistics export is planned — get in touch if you need it sooner.
Currently we optimize against Czech spot prices (OTE). We’re working on expanding to other countries.
